Ross Barkley has rejected a chance to sign for Chelsea, after walking out during his medicals on Thursday.
The BBC reports that Barkley did not want to go to Stamford Bridge, despite talk that he would finalize a deadline day move.
“I’m lost for words. You’re going to the champions, he’s going to play with Hazard, Willian, and he’s going to play!
“They haven’t got the biggest squad. I’d like to hear the full story, but I’m shocked,” Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson said after the news broke out.
Barkley has now returned to Everton, where he has delayed signing a new deal.
Tottenham Hotspur were also believed to be keen on the player.
Chelsea were only able to seal a deal for Torino right-back Davide Zappacosta on transfer deadline this year.
